December is a time for holiday events, both traditional and new. Arts reporter Jocelyn Bennett has highlighted a few of the events bringing Christmas cheer this month.
Celebrating 50 years of powerful performances, the Saskatoon Fireside Singers present their annual holiday concert, Christmas Memories. More than 100 voices in four choirs sing traditional and contemporary seasonal favourites, accompanied by a full orchestra and guest artists Thomas Yu and Kerry Duwors.
“The program offers an eclectic mix of repertoire including beautiful vocal solos, stunning instrumental solos and ensembles, and dynamic choreography. Audiences will delight in the heartfelt, powerful signature choral sound that has drawn sellout crowds to TCU Place and other city venues for over 50 years,” pianist Bonnie Nicholson said.
