Fire risk causes recall of 140,000 Chevrolet Bolt EVs

DETROIT, Michigan: General Motors has announced a recall of 140,000 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles in North America due to carpets that could catch fire after a crash.

Due to potential fires starting when exhaust gases come in contact with floor carpeting after a vehicle crash, the US automaker agreed to recall various 2017 through 2023 model year Chevrolet Bolt EV vehicles.

The recall will affect some 120,000 US vehicles and 20,000 Canadian vehicles.
