TIME FOR ACTION

Re “Political correctness jeopardizing safety of students” (Jerry Agar, Dec. 12): The shame blame game is a waste of time. It usually only protects the parties responsible for the problem. The TDSB has stated publicly that the current safety situation reflects the community. No, education is supposed to lead a community to a just society. This is stated clearly in the Education Act. The initial ‘security personnel’ in the schools are to be the principal, school superintendent and area superintendent. Where have they been when concerns were raised? Where was the school board and the minister of education in providing the necessary oversight to these administrators? It’s long overdue that everyone involved accepts responsibility for their action or inaction and is held accountable.

(The administration is hiding behind a weak claim they can’t do anything – it’s pathetic and parents should hold them accountable)

BYE BYE

In the Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan, Harry looks directly into the camera saying, “It is amazing what people will do when offered a huge amount of money. Fifty thousand, hundred thousand, to hand over private photos or to create a story. Thank God most people said no.” It very much sounds like Harry is describing what he and Meghan have done. Given $100 million from Netflix and then creating their own self-serving narrative — unchallenged by a stoic Royal Family — to reveal perceived racism, having thrown Meghan to the wolves and attempting to take her voice, and posting pictures of private moments. How incredibly tone deaf they are to the real suffering of so many. If they are totally sincere — keeping in mind their story is of zero use to the general population — then they should donate their ill-gotten gains to charity, and go quietly in the night. But that sort of action is hard to monetize and keep them front and centre. I just finished reading about the day parole granted to the stepmother who tortured and pulverized her stepson, Randal Dooley. The strengthening ranks of militia moving in on Ukraine, as well as the food and medical shortages happening around the world. But here we have Harry and Meghan whining about how wronged they were by the very institution that they have expertly used to generate money as they feed their chickens at their manse. Money may not buy happiness but neither does it buy sensitivity or emotional intelligence. Please just take your money and go away.

VITAMIN FIX

Why is the argument in health care always private versus public. The real fight is natural medicine versus conventional medicine. Vitamins should be used in our hospitals to help patients. It would save our health-care system a lot of money.
