ETHICALLY CHALLENGED

I worked my entire career in the private sector. Each year we had to complete and acknowledge a code of ethics, it stated clearly what was not allowed and breaching this could result in disciplinary action including termination. It’s sad our leaders, especially the prime minister, don’t abide by any such code and think an apology fixes everything. What’s even more sad is so many voters (you know who you are) must have the same ethical standards as they continue to elect these same Liberal violators.

(Trudeau’s Liberals don’t care about playing by the rules. They get a slap on the wrist and move on to the next scanda)

WHERE ARE THE PARENTS?

Your editorial “Kids need to learn violence not the norm” (Dec. 22) along with columnists Strobel, Mandel, Hunter, Lilley, Warmington have all missed the point! The problem that should be addressed is parents (not all) abdicating their role and responsibility of teaching and nurturing the human values of love, peace, truth, right conduct and nonviolence. Your editorial blamed everyone else, for the lack of discipline and moral guidance of our young people, except the prime educator of their child — the parents. Little will be accomplished until parents are held accountable for the actions of their child. Identify the root cause and what needs to be addressed for a change where it belongs — ‘Where are the parents?’

(Yes, they are a significant part of this and must take responsibility. But we can’t control how parents raise their kids, what we can do is push governments to make policy changes that improve the situation)

BUY ONE GET ONE

The price of groceries is a serious concern for Canadian families. However, No Frills (and I’m sure others) continue to offer some of their weekly specials as ‘buy two or more’ deals that only help those with larger food budgets. For example, this week they are offering two loaves of bread for $6 (ie. $3 each). If you buy only one loaf, you must pay $3.69 each. For those that can’t afford $6 for bread this week, they are stuck with paying a higher price per loaf. Not fair!

(At least they are making an effort. That said you shouldn’t be penalized for only one purchase)

WAY OF THE BOARD

Fake breasts, fake hair. Does anyone remember Klinger from M.A.S.H? This teacher is waiting to be fired and then get a big payout. School board is hosed either way.

(The school board is well within its jurisdiction to implement a dress code)
