Ryan Reynolds may make another trip to see the Ottawa Senators in the new year

WINNIPEG — Ryan Reynolds may be making another appearance at the Canadian Tire Centre down the road.

The Vancouver-born actor is studying the idea of attending another game, but he’s got a lot happening in his personal life right now.

Once the holiday season has ended and Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, has given birth to the couple’s fourth child early in 2023, the expectation is he’ll be back from his home in New York for a second look at the atmosphere at the rink sometime in the new year.

He was on hand for the Ottawa Senators’ 6-4 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 6, but the sale process is heating up and the indications are Reynolds wants to bring representatives of his production company, Maximum Effort, back for another peek.

Sources say Reynolds and his group at Maximum Effort are doing their own homework to make sure they’re all in on this project. Reynolds is bullish on being part of the Senators ownership group and knows this is a commitment that will last for decades.

“He’s excited about what’s ahead,” said the source.

Maximum Effort will produce a series on the Senators and the NHL that will give viewers an inside look at the purchase of the team because Reynolds believes a big part of being in ownership is telling the story of the franchise.

Reynolds has held regular discussions with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman throughout this process. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly, Bettman and Reynolds sat down at the league’s headquarters in New York last month to discuss the role he could play in ownership.
