Two men charged in Danforth murder

Two men now face charges related to the deadly stabbing of a 57-year-old man at a building on the Danforth.

Toronto Police say they responded to a stabbing in the area of Danforth Ave. and Greenwood Ave. just before 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Officers tried to save the victim, but he was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The victim — identified as Nicola Maiorano, 57, of Toronto — is the city’s 65th murder victim of the year.

Police announced on Thursday that two suspects — Dylan Sherief, 30, and Donivan Comeau, 23, both of Toronto — had been arrested.

Sherief is charged with second-degree murder and Comeau is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Two men with matching names and ages were arrested in an unrelated case in January, but police were unable to confirm they are the same men charged now in Maiorano’s killing.

In that case, two men wore tactical clothing with “federal agent” logos and stopped vehicles in the Kingston Rd., Brimley Rd. area by using emergency lighting on their vehicle, police said at the time.

They were charged with four counts each of impersonating a peace officer, forcible confinement and fraud. Additionally, Comeau was charged with failing to comply with undertaking.

Anyone with information regarding Maiorano’s murder is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
