Six-year-old dies after incident at Quebec ski resort


A six-year-old girl died in hospital Sunday night after being involved in an incident at the Val-Saint-Côme ski resort in Lanaudiere, Que.


Provincial police are investigating, though details into the event are not yet known. Officers indicated that it involved a T-bar lift, but they were not able to say more.


The incident occurred at around 9:30 am. The young girl was in critical condition during transport to the hospital, according to emergency services.


Val Saint-Côme ski resort management confirmed the incident occurred during the girl’s ascent in the lift.


Access to the mountain was closed Sunday evening. Provincial police sent investigators and forensic identification technicians to investigate what happened.


Val-Saint-Côme ski resort is located about 65 kilometres northwest of Joliette.
