Emma Heming Willis marks sad anniversary with Bruce Willis: 'SEIZE EVERY OPPORTUNITY'

As he battles dementia, Emma Heming Willis is paying tribute to her husband Bruce Willis on their 14th wedding anniversary.

On Tuesday, Emma shared a photo to her Instagram of a bouquet of flowers a friend gave her in a “random act of kindness” to honour her special day.

“Today marks 14 years of marriage to the greatest love of my life,” she began in her caption.

Later in her post, Emma said milestones like birthdays and anniversaries are now hard to celebrate after Bruce was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia last month.

“It got me thinking about how hard these types of ‘special occasions’ can be on caregivers,” she continued. “When usually our person would acknowledge the event, now their changing brains just can’t. And that is what it is.”

Emma returned to social media later in the day to mark the couple’s anniversary by sharing a video from their vow renewal in 2019.

“Seize every opportunity to unite and celebrate with family and friends. Those are the moments and beautiful pockets of memories that you get to hold on to for a lifetime,” Emma wrote. “And we get to keep those memories safe and alive for the ones that might not be able to.”

Set to Coldplay’s Fix You and shot by Bruce’s ex-wife Demi Moore, the video shows Emma walking down the aisle with her Bruce embracing and kissing as their family celebrates with them.

“On our 10th wedding anniversary we decided to renew our vows in the same place we said ‘I do’ back in 2009,” Emma wrote. “I’m so happy we did.”

The anniversary is the couple’s first since Bruce’s family revealed he has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

Meanwhile, Bruce’s family celebrated the actor’s 68th birthday over the weekend.

To help mark the occasion,  Demi posted a video to social media that featured his family — including his wife Emma and his kids Mabel Ray,10; Evelyn Penn, 8; Rumer, 34; Scout, 31; and Tallulah Belle, 29 — singing “Happy Birthday” as the Die Hard star looked on with a big grin.

Bruce’s daughter Scout also shared her mother’s video, with the caption: “Today has been PROFOUNDLY JOYFULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!! HAPPY BW’S BIRTHDAY TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE !!!!”

In a separate post, Emma shared a collage of clips with her and Bruce in happier times set to Stevie Wonder’s I’ll Be Loving You Always.

“He is pure love. He is so loved. And I’ll be loving him always. Happy Birthday my sweet,” she wrote.

Bruce stepped away from acting last March after his family revealed he was suffering from aphasia — a neurological affliction that leaves a person unable to communicate.

His condition has worsened and in February his family confirmed that the Hollywood icon is suffering from frontotemporal dementia.

“FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone,” Bruce’s loved ones wrote in a statement on the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration website.

In an Instagram post earlier this month, Emma said that going forward she is making it her mission to “raise awareness” about the disease and advocate for “caregivers.”

“I’m going to turn my grief and anger and my sadness into something good around something that feels less than,” she said.

“Watch this space,” she added, “because I didn’t come to play.”
