Injuries reported at Halifax-area high school following weapons complaint; 1 person in custody

Police in Halifax say there are injuries related to a weapons complaint at a school in Bedford, N.S.

Police say one person is in custody and there is currently no threat to public safety.

Halifax Regional Police did not say how many people have been injured, whether the injuries are serious, or what weapon was used.

The force says officers responded to the complaint at Charles P. Allen High School around 9:20 a.m. Monday.

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) tweeted around 10:30 a.m. that the school was under a hold-and-secure order and the building was secure.

About 20 minutes later, HRCE announced the school would be closing for the day, with buses on their way to the school and students dismissing “shortly.”

HRCE says students are safe and families have been notified.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area as they investigate.
