Letter: Arena opponents want Saskatoon as the city that always sleeps

A reader offers his opinion on the opponents of the plan for a new downtown arena and entertainment district in Saskatoon.

They want big-city service, such as weekly trash pickup or 24-hour snow clearing, but not at the expense of more neighbours in their communities.

They have “shop local” bumper stickers, but dine at Boston Pizza because there’s more parking.

They want more flights in and out of Saskatoon. But “no one would come here, it’s too cold!”

No casino. No library. No art gallery. No stadium. No tourists. No fun.

They’d prefer Saskatoon to be a Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. city. The city that always sleeps.
