Montreal police were in the process of launching an investigation into a trio of “suspicious” deaths in a dwelling in the city’s Rosemont district on Friday morning.
The bodies of three people were found in the residence on Bélanger St. near Viau St., directly in front of the Montreal Heart Institute.
Montreal police said one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers were led to the site by a 911 call received at 9:20 a.m. reporting that three people were in need of assistance.
Police found three bodies bearing marks of violence.
Citing anonymous police sources, multiple reports from the scene indicated that three people had been stabbed to death at the site.
Quebec Premier François Legault tweeted just before 11 a.m.: “Three lives were taken this morning in Rosemont. It’s terrible. My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims affected by this tragedy. We are monitoring the situation closely.”
Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante also said her thoughts were with the victims and tweeted condolences to their loved ones.
