Authorities are trying to find a lacking cruise ship passenger within the Gulf of Mexico.

The U.S. Coast Guard stated it had obtained a name on Wednesday afternoon saying that a 32-year-old African American girl had fallen overboard from the Carnival Valor cruise ship about 150 miles offshore of Southwest Cross, Louisiana.

A spokesperson for Carnival advised Newsweek the girl is believed to have jumped from her balcony.

"Carnival Valor is supporting the seek for a visitor who reportedly jumped overboard from her balcony on Wednesday afternoon whereas the ship was at sea," the spokesperson stated.
