Entangled North Atlantic right whale spotted in the Gulf of St. Lawrence

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is looking for an endangered North Atlantic proper whale that was noticed Thursday entangled in some form of gear east of Gaspe, Que.


The whale is a 14-year-old feminine referred to as Sundog.


Federal officers say marine mammal rescue businesses are on standby, although a disentanglement mission will not be tried except sea circumstances are beneficial.


It stays unclear what sort of gear must be reduce away or the place it got here from.


There are about 336 North Atlantic proper whales in existence, and plenty of spend their summers feeding within the Gulf of St. Lawrence.


Fifteen calves have been noticed earlier this 12 months in waters off the US.
