'Grandparent scam': Calgary man facing fraud charges in Sherwood Park


A 40-year-old man from Calgary is dealing with a fraud cost after Mounties allege he collected hundreds of dollars as a part of a "grandparent rip-off" in Strathcona County.


"On Might 9, the sufferer obtained a name from a male claiming to be their grandson who wanted $8,000 US for bail cash," Const. Chantelle Kelly wrote in a Thursday launch.


"One other male claiming to be a police officer corroborated the story and suggested their grandson had been arrested for drug possession and required bail cash earlier than being launched from jail."


RCMP allege a person went to the house of the sufferer and picked up the cash, earlier than it was realized it was a rip-off.

RCMP arrested Jeb Trim of Calgary and he was charged with fraud over $5,000.


Police shared a photograph of Trim as a result of they consider he might have defrauded different individuals.
