Suspect arrested, charged after 3-year-old groped in Surrey store, police say


A number of fees have been laid in opposition to a person who allegedly touched a younger baby inappropriately inside a Surrey retailer over the weekend.


In a information launch, Surrey RCMP stated they obtained studies that the suspect had groped a three-year-old baby at a enterprise within the 12400 block of 88 Avenue at roughly 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

The kid's father and bystanders stored the suspect on scene till police arrived.


Upon arrival, Mounties spoke with witnesses, reviewed CCTV footage from the shop and arrested the suspect. The person was later launched with a courtroom date whereas the investigation continued.


Surrey RCMP's Particular Victims Unit then took over the investigation and submitted a report back to Crown counsel recommending fees.


On Wednesday, 24-year-old Adam Alexander Newbigging was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.


Newbigging was arrested the next day and stays in custody, pending a courtroom look.


"This incident had an emotional affect on all events concerned and we've taken steps to make sure applicable referrals have been made so that everybody will get the help they want," stated Munn.
