An elderly, blind golden retriever named Lulu has been reunited with her human family after she was lost in the Alaskan wilderness.
Lulu had been missing for three weeks before workmen on a construction site in Sitka, Alaska, spotted the emaciated animal.
People Magazine reports that initially, they thought Lulu was a bear. She was lying in some brush, down from the side of the road.
The beloved family pet wandered away from the Kubacki household on June 18.
Ted Kubacki, the father of five girls, told People how relieved the family is that Lulu is finally back with them.
When found, Lulu had lost 23 pounds and was dehydrated and filthy. She was not in good shape, but her health has improved steadily since she got back home.
The family’s reaction to news that Lulu had been found is not surprising: a lot of happy screaming.
