Two sought in carjacking of Mercedes in Vaughan

York Regional Police are looking for two potentially armed suspects following a carjacking in Vaughan.

On Wednesday around 9:55 p.m., police were called to Major Mackenzie Dr. E. and Thomas Cook Dr. for a carjacking.

The victim was driving in a 2017 white Mercedes E300 on Thomas Cook when he stopped to make a turn onto Major Mackenzie. Cops say that’s when a dark-coloured SUV pulled up beside him and a male exited the passenger side of the SUV. He appeared to have a gun near his waist and he demanded the victim get out of the Mercedes.

The victim did and the male fled in the Mercedes, followed by the SUV.

The only description provided of the suspects are that they are Black males.

Due to the recent spike in carjackings, York police are spearheading a GTA-wide task force that includes Toronto Police, Peel Regional Police, the OPP, and  Durham Regional Police.

This investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6631 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
