Woman killed in Maple Ridge, B.C. double shooting identified

Homicide investigators have identified a woman who was shot and killed in Maple Ridge Friday.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team identified the victim as Cashmere Ali, 35, after two people were found with gunshot wounds at a residence 22600-block 119 Avenue in Maple Ridge early Friday morning.

Ali was treated at the scene but died later in hospital while the male victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. IHIT is not yet releasing the man’s name. Investigators don’t believe the shooting is random.

“We are working to identify witnesses that can shed some light on what led to this tragedy,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “We are urging all associates of Ms. Ali to come forward and speak with police, as we work to develop a timeline of events.”

IHIT is asking that any witnesses or anyone travelling in the 22600 block of 119 Avenue, Maple Ridge, between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. with dash cameras or who have any information regarding the homicide is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT
