Latest luxury hotel is W Toronto on Bloor Street

There’s a new luxury hotel on Bloor Street in the form of W Hotels’ first Toronto property.

The 11-storey, 254-room W Toronto, formerly the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville, is officially opening its doors on Thursday.

“The time is right to introduce W Toronto, and its playful take on luxury,” said Craig Reaume, general manager, W Toronto, in a statement to the Sun.

“People have been asking for years when W Toronto would finally open in Toronto, and we can say with confidence that it will be worth the wait. W Toronto is a place where business and leisure guests can meet, mingle and discover the best of Toronto.”

The hotel, at 90 Bloor St. E., is promising to “Remix The Six” with a design reflecting Toronto’s “brutalist architecture, graffiti art, grid-like sprawl, green spaces, and theatre and music culture,” according to a news release.

There will be three restaurants led by new executive chef Keith Pears including Skylight, a ninth-floor, rooftop eatery offering a “a playful expression of the Mediterranean,” with 180 indoor seats and 40 outdoor seats.

And for those who like to work out, there’s a 3,300 square-foot fitness facility plus 4,600 square feet of event space for social and corporate events.

W Hotels has nearly 60 hotels around the globe and is part of the Marriott International chain.
