WWE legend Ric Flair has jumped off the turnbuckle to bodyslam critics of disgraced WWE boss Vince McMahon.
The 76-year-old wrestling impresario has retired after becoming embroiled in a spreading scandal involving payoffs to former female employees of the WWE.
But the iconic Nature Boy told TMZ Sports that he hates the situation. He believes his longtime boss should have stayed on the job.
“Yes, I think he’s one of a kind and I’ve said this,” Flair told TMZ, adding that the fallen CEO is a genius.
“He’s made so many people rich and he’s literally has made chicken salad out of a lot of chicken s**t. Mojo knows what I’m talking about. He’s made a lot of people rich,” Flair said.
However, Flair stopped short of giving McMahon a free pass on the lurid allegations tainting him. The former WWE chief is now being probed by a law firm hired by the world’s biggest promotion for the payoffs.
“I mean they’re just trying to murder him now and who knows and all. I’m certainly not defending anything that’s negative and I’m not taking a side on the issue that apparently has been brought up but I know as a person and what he did for me, there’s nobody like him,” Flair said.
The multiple times world champion does believe the organization is in good hands.
McMahon’s daughter Stephanie will become the fourth generation of McMahons to rule the roost at the WWE. The promotion was founded by her great grandfather Jess in the 1950s and her father bought the company from her grandfather, Vince McMahon Sr. in 1982.
