TIMELINE OF TERROR: Cold-blooded killing to the end in a Hamilton cemetery

As the second week of school began, murder and mayhem struck in a three-hour stretch of madness.

By the time it was over Toronto Police Const. Andrew Hong and Milton mechanic Shakeel Ashraf were dead and three others were seriously wounded.

And by the end, suspected gunman Sean Petrie, 40, was dead from a cop’s bullet in a Hamilton cemetery.

Here’s how it went down.

2:15 p.m.

Peel Police respond to the area of Winston Churchill Blvd. and Argentia Rd. for reports of a shooting. Cops say Toronto Police Const. Andrew Hong was executed at point-blank range as he had lunch at Tim Hortons. Another person was injured and taken to Sunnybrook hospital.

2:51 p.m.

Murder comes to Milton. Halton Police report another shooting at MK Auto Repairs in the area of Main and Bronte St.

3:25 p.m.

The suspect is on the run and Halton cops issue a tweet about the shooting in Milton. Again, the suspect is driving a black Jeep Cherokee. Shortly after, cops say it’s the same plate in the Mississauga incident.

4 p.m.

Law enforcement sources begin confirming to the media that the dead man in Mississauga is a Toronto cop.

4:19 p.m.

Peel cops release a still image from surveillance video of the suspect in question.

Emergency alert issued: “Peel Regional Police are investigating an active shooter.”

4:33 p.m.

Halton Police announce that the suspect has been found and arrested. At that time, they announce that one person is dead in Milton following the shooting at the garage.

4:47 p.m.

The narrative in Hamilton dramatically changes. Cops ask people to avoid York Blvd., citing “an ongoing police investigation.”

6:17 p.m.

Hamilton police chief Frank Bergen tells reporters that the suspect, identified as Sean Petrie, 40, was shot and killed at the back of the cemetery. Bergen says the Special Investigations Unit invoked its mandate.
