Blue Jays outfielder Springer suffered concussion and shoulder sprain in Game 2

While most of his teammates had already returned to their off-season homes, battered-and-bruised Blue Jays outfielder George Springer made a visit to the Rogers Centre on Tuesday.

The team revealed that their prized leadoff hitter had suffered a concussion and shoulder sprain in that nasty outfield collision with teammate Bo Bichette during Saturday’s wild-card playoff game against the Seattle Mariners.

As if the play wasn’t painful enough — bringing in three runs to allow the Mariners to square the game at 9-9 — Springer had to be carted off the field after colliding with Bichette as both attempted to chase down a J.P. Crawford fly ball.

“He’ll be cleared to travel relatively soon and his shoulder and range of motion is already improving,” Jays general manager Ross Atkins said on Tuesday.

The GM also revealed that Springer will be evaluated for a bone spur in his right elbow once he is cleared to fly.
