With the former King of the North back in town, it wasn’t surprising to see superstar Drake at Tuesday’s Raptors game, too.
Kawhi Leonard made just his second appearance at Scotiabank Arena since leading the Toronto Raptors to the franchise’s first NBA title, and helped his Los Angeles Clippers to an easy win. Afterwards, he and fellow former Raptor Norman Powell exchanged hugs with Drake courtside.
Drake, who is also the Raptors’s Global Ambassador, was pals with Leonard during his season in Toronto. He even gave him a guest spot in a music video after Leonard fought off Toronto’s full-court press and went home to Los Angeles as a free agent.
Leonard received his championship ring and came away with another win in his previous visit.
This time, the Raptors swarmed Leonard, preventing him from taking as many shots as usual, but his teammates, especially Powell, were happy to help out.
Drake couldn’t help but fire back when the Clippers tweeted: “Kawhi and Norm with a fan.” In the comments of a Clippers Instagram post, Drake responded with: “Win a ring.”
Despite a massive payroll, the Clippers have failed to win a title and the franchise has been one of the NBA’s least successful over the years.
Drake’s son Adonis had a good time at the game. At a previous game, a beverage server came by with candy bag after candy bag for the youngster. This time, the Raptor mascot stopped by with even more candy.
