The world's largest bottle of whisky, known as "The Intrepid," has offered for about US$1.4 million, in response to the public sale home Lyon and Turnbull.
The bottle, standing 5 ft 11 inches, was given the Guinness World File in September 2021. It comprises 82.16 U.S. gallons, or 311 litres. That is the equal of 444 normal bottles -- sufficient for five,287 whisky sours made with 2 ounces of whisky every.
The liquor is a 1989 Macallan single malt that spent 32 years maturing in oak casks at Macallan's Scotland distillery earlier than being bottled in 2021. It's pale gold and has a candy style with notes of apple, says the public sale home.
It was offered Wednesday to a world collector, in response to Lyon and Turnbull.
The Intrepid mission was created as a collaboration between Fah Mai, a Thailand-based funding firm, and Rosewin Holdings, a London-based agency, which spend money on whisky and different spirits.
The mission's founder, Daniel Monk, was impressed by his father's "ardour for journey, exploration," says the public sale home. The label on the bottle options 11 explorers, together with Ranulph Fiennes and Robin Knox-Johnston.
The public sale will help a number of charities, together with Marie Curie and Marketing campaign Towards Residing Miserably (CALM), says Lyon.
The massive bottle shouldn't be the most costly container of whisky ever offered. That honour goes to a 60-year outdated Macallan offered for $1.53 million in 2018.
