Hometown rapper Drake is the most famous Toronto Raptors fan on the planet.
And while he is known to have a soft spot for the American League’s Toronto Blue Jays, the God’s Plan singer — a frequent flier courtside at Raps games — is noticeable by his absence at Rogers Centre.
Now, Jays top hurler Alek Manoah is pleading with Drake: What about us? Manoah told TMZ Sports during the recent All-Star festivities in Los Angeles that he REALLY wants the singer to see him in action.
“Come watch me pitch!” Manoah, 24, said in a message to Drizzy, adding, “We’ll give him a uniform!”
But the DeGrassi alumni already has a closet full of Jays jerseys and has even worn them during concerts. As TMZ noted, he put a photo of the team’s World Series hero, Joe Carter, on his hit song Back to Back’s album cover.
While Drake loves the city’s MLB stalwarts, the Raptors and hoops remain his first love.
Maybe Manoah’s pleas won’t fall on deaf ears and Drake will be seated behind home plate at the local ballyard before the season’s end.
