A man is accused of killing his 49-year-old sister at a Scarborough home Thursday morning.
Toronto Police officers responded around 5:30 a.m. to an “assault call” at 32 Westbourne Ave. — near Victoria Park Ave. and Dawes Rd. — and find a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries.
The woman later died in hospital.
“It is alleged that a man assaulted his 49-year-old sister,” Homicide Det.-Sgt. Keri Fernandes said in a statement released Thursday afternoon.
The suspect was arrested at the residence.
Evdokia Giapoutzis, 49, of Toronto, has been identified as the city’s 40th murder victim of the year.
Her younger brother — Chris Giapoutzis, 37, of Toronto — has been charged with second-degree murder.
No further details were immediately released.
